Scattered Remnants

This site when I visited it was previously open to the public but it is now considered private property, so I shall not disclose the location. But what I visited were the remains of an old gunpowder factory powered by a water mill. But a tragic accident, the cause still being unknown, created an explosion in the mill which ignited the gunpowder. The factory blew apart in a devastating explosion, launching bricks from the facility into the surrounding forest for several miles, and killing a large number of the employees. The mill was never rebuilt and the facility, all in pieces, was abandoned and still slowly decays in the woods. Some of the machinery is still intact but inoperable, and sections of the building can be found launched deeply into the forest beyond. It is a sad but truly fascinating site which I had the fortune of exploring just before access was restricted to the location. You cannot visit this place for yourself without permission, but it is an interesting story to share.
