Starting a life in an entirely new location can be difficult, but it also provides endless new opportunities to explore new places and to make memories. Moving to Texas was certainly not easy, but being with the one I love makes every struggle along the way worth fighting for.
Moving nearly two thousand miles away from where I grew up has forced me to explore my new surroundings, and I'm discovering that new places are exciting to visit. The Cedar Hill Nature Preserve is a state park covering several miles of open wildlife-inhabited forests and hills. Steep rock ledges, grass knolls, dense woodland, trickling streams, vast lakes, and more make up the terrain of this beautiful preserve. Wildlife of all sorts can be seen here, including some of the most dangerous among them. The snake we encountered was small and otherwise harmless, but deadly venomous snakes inhabit this area. But by risking the dangers of snakes, spiders, rock slides, or losing one's way in this deep forest one can experience a challenging and deeply rewarding hike through some of the most beautiful scenery I have seen in Texas thus far.
I have a lot more to see and explore here in Texas, but we're off to an exciting start. The Cedar Hill Nature Preserve has quickly become a new favorite spot for us, one which I'll look forward to hiking again because of the various trails and deviating paths. Any who find their way out to the Cedar Hill area in Texas should consider taking an afternoon to experience the preserve for themselves.
